In the late 2000's I started to develop an interest for a certain type of design, decided to break the bank and get my first rocking chair by Charles Eames from DWR, things never got the same... A few years later, after moving from San Francisco to San Diego, I realized with a very limited budget in hands that the vintage market had much more to offer than recent production for the modern style I decided to furnish my home with. However, in order to be able to afford creating the ambiance I had in mind I could only select distressed pieces in the need for restoration I would get mostly from private sellers on Craigslist... So after countless hours of research between books, video tutorials, web forums I decided to start restoring furniture on my own one piece at the time. Forward to fall 2013 when I finally put the last piece in the house and finished my own interior design project... However, during all those years I got so much into the thrill of the hunt for the perfect piece and the amazing feel of seeing this damaged item coming back to life between my own hands, I just couldn't stop... But who needs 2 coffee tables, 3 sofas or 4 credenzas in their house??? So, as my interest for scandinavain mid century modern evolved from a passion to an addiction to a way of life and strong of a few years of experience restoring furnitures, I decided I wanted to share this timeless style with anyone looking to purchase a carefully refinished piece. Within a year, I was able to assist dozens of mcm aficionados sourcing from my small inventory displayed in my garage... Then, in September 2014, I decided to exhibit my curated selection at the Palm Springs Modernism Show which was the first step in the professional vintage furniture world... Soon after I was able to put a website together, to share a retail space then get my own, to import my first container from Denmark, to sell thru reputable online design merchants, to assist professional of the design industry... Now after 200+ pieces sold to happy customers in Los Angeles, NYC, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Boston, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Paris, Stockholm and of course San Diego, Aymerick Modern is now 2 years old!!!
Thank you so much to everyone who supported me along the way in this adventure over the last two years.
